Choosing education for your child is an important choice. This choice may become even more difficult if you live abroad temporarily or permanently. Whatever type of education you choose, the main language on the Costa Blanca is Spanish or English, often combined with Valencian. For good development, it is crucial to have a good command of the mother tongue. By continuing to speak Dutch at home, your child learns his or her native language, but how does your child learn correct spelling, conjugating verbs, reading the Dutch language and the different pronunciation of letters compared to the Spanish or English language? With Tu Idioma’s language lessons, your child will become proficient in the Dutch language, both spoken and written!

Dutch Summer School
DUTCH LANGUAGE AND CULTURE
Language is a social matter, a means of exchanging information. Language learning is inextricably linked to global citizenship. You give your child a broad basis to think beyond national borders and come into contact with people from different backgrounds, nationalities and cultures. At Tu Idioma, learning the Dutch language is accompanied by conveying Dutch and Flemish culture. In addition to the weekly language lessons, Tu Idioma organizes 4 annual culture days. During these days we enjoy typical Dutch and Flemish cultural activities in which students and parents can participate.
For the weekly language lessons, we work with a structured lesson schedule with Dutch-recognized teaching materials. Our lessons are interactive and the class layout is group-oriented, where different ages take lessons together starting from the age of 3 until 12 years. Our experienced teachers are committed and knowledgeable and guide students through the teaching material in a playful manner at their own pace. To keep the lessons interactive and personal, we provide small classes. This way we provide a safe environment for learning through play and, if all goes well, they even make new friends!
DUTCH SUMMER SCHOOL
The Spanish education system is structured differently than in the Netherlands and Belgium. For example, Spanish schools have a summer holiday of approximately three months. For many parents it is difficult to bridge the summer and many children miss contact with peers during this period. That’s why Tu Idioma has the Dutch Summer School! The place to come together with Dutch children, play together, create, dance and learn new skills.
Our Dutch Summer School is located on the Costa Blanca. Throughout the month of July, we offer a wide range of activities for children aged 4-12 from Monday to Friday from 9:30 AM – 3:00 PM. Summer School can be taken per calendar week.
The younger children are led through a carefully planned activity schedule by one of our experienced primary teachers. Every morning starts with Dutch language and culture lessons, so that the children learn the Dutch language intensively in a short time. During the Dutch Summer School there is plenty of room for play and recreation. This often takes place outside, taking into account the temperature and the strength of the Spanish sun. The older children are offered 3 hours of Dutch lessons every day, divided into two blocks. Our experienced teachers guide the children through the material at their own pace and level. We also have a large collection of Dutch children’s books that the children can use. In addition to the Dutch language lessons, the children work together with one of our teachers and contribute to a theme through crafts, music, dance and drama.

Family discount
Do you have several children who you want to teach the Dutch language during weekly language lessons or during the Dutch Summer School? Children from the same family receive a 10% discount as long as they are registered together.
